I can't justify paying more than $100 dollars for a RADAR detector. This one does the job fine. All RADAR detectors will give false alarms for door openers, etc., since they use the same frequencies. Also, officers have to have their RADAR on for your detector to work. Some of the reviews on here whined about police officers being right next to them and it not going off.

For a cheap RADAR/LIDAR detector, the Cobras work just like they should. They cannot do magic, and neither can the $400 ones. The only advantage to the more expensive ones are if they come with remote mounted (front and rear) sensors. Otherwise, it's the same technology for 4x times the price.

The radar detector picks up the stores security systems fine......cops not so much. I was alerted of a local cop sitting up the road with a reasonable amount of distance...great. Though a state trooper is different. X band kicks on at last second...heard it beep and looked to my left and theres a statey sittin. Another time a state trooper drove pass me....nothing until he was behind me. X band went on and instantly at 5 strength after he went by. Not a sound when an ambulance came up behind me. I have used it for about two months now so the testing will continue so far its receiving a D. Next detector most likely will be a whistler.

I got this because I am a volunteer firefighter and sometimes I have to travel above the speed limit to get to a call. I agree that it goes off a lot because of doors and stuff at stores but it really doesn't bother me. I got it to give me a warning to alert me when to slow down seeing as Alabama does not allow volunteer firefighters to put emergency lighting on their personal vehicles. I've encountered officers a few times in the first day I've had it and it's went off. I do however wish it has a little bit better range but it fulfills it's purpose well. Overall I think this is a great product and with a little more usage I would probably recommend it to a friend or family member.

you can see the camera before 500 meters by yours eyes ,and this bad radar give you alarm on 1 meter or after you pass the camera :(

So if your looking for a cheap radar that kinda gets the job done, well then this Cobra is for you.
I found it to work ok for awhile then, it thinks on-coming traffic (headlights) are radars. A ton of false alarms, wouldn't even count in one 30min trip to work.
I would agree around state patrol vehicles it doesn't work. I would pass trooper and maybe pick up KA-1 at most.
TIME for a upgrade jumping over to Beltronics Radar's, Cobra has let me down twice now.

Overall review 2.5 out of 5 stars "not worth the time or money"
